Rome Trip - June 2004
Mary and I went to Rome, Italy the week of June 21. It was a dream of
Mary's (she's Italian), and we were able to put together a trip to Rome
for a week. We were accompanied by Becky and Frank.
We flew from LAX to Zurich, Switzerland on Monday (11 hour non-stop) and then
had to hustle to a different gate to catch our connecting flight to Rome. The
flight to Rome was only a little over an hour, then we caught a taxi (it had
to be a BIG one, one driver exclaimed we didn't have any luggage left at home)
to our Hotel on the outskirts of Rome.
We didn't do much that night, since we were pretty jet lagged from the flight
and it was late in the afternoon...so we stayed at the hotel and ate at the
restaurant there (very good) and hit the hay early.
The following 5 days were filled with walking back and forth across Rome and a
half-day bus tour on Thursday afternoon through the 'ruins' of Rome. We liked
the tour so much that we purchased one for Saturday, to Hadrian's Villa and the
Villa d'Este in Tivoli.
We flew back on the following Monday, a grueling 11 1/2 flight from Zurich (a
bunch of un-controlled kids keeping us awake the whole way).
Here's quite a few pictures we took while in Rome:
